A Week Has Passed Already?

Time seems to fly by and stand still all at once here in Suli, and so much has happened in the past few days! We have had registration almost every single night and around ten people are enrolled in my class, which I was hoping for, since there will still be enough for a good class discussion even if a few are missing. A few complications have sprung up over the curriculum, as the cds provided with our books are not the required ones, so both DJ and I are in the middle of downloading about 8 cds of audio tracks for class tomorrow. The internet is less than stable or speedy so it has been an interesting day.
Elise, DJ and I went on our first Kurdish picnic yesterday and also learned the basics of Kurdish dancing. Simply put, it involves a line of people shaking their shoulder and hopping back and forth, not so simple is the advanced twirling around moves that some of our friends showed us. One more thing to work on! The music is wonderful though, you find yourself clapping to it immediately, and a frequent site is to see and hear little girls dancing on the bus on the way to school. At night we went to little Zeke's, the now two year old son of one of the couples here, birthday party. Parties here are as much for the adults as for the children with dancing and some pretty intense musical chair. I won a round and added some prize chocolate to my stash.
Elise and I are going to begin decorating our room in the next few days or so. It's nice to have a place that is "your own" to just relax. So the painting, shelf building, and overall decorating has been added on the low priority list of things to do. I know that a lot of you are great artists and photographers, so if you would like to send something through email or mail for our wall, I love it!!!
A few prayer requests, Elise has had the flu for the past couple of days and is recovering, however I seem to be coming down with some variety of it myself and am on the sore side of life. We also would appreciate prayers for wisdom in our teaching, that we can be clear and really be an asset to our students. Thank you for everything!
